Statement of Purpose
--To serve as a church home to those of like faith and to be a blessing to the community and general area.
--To glorify God and exalt Christ in all things, so that the unbeliever may be saved and the the believer edified.
--To follow the teachings of Christ, as set forth in the Word of God, concerning the Great Commission, administration of the ordinances, and contending for the faith, as purposes established for the Church.

What We Believe
--We believe in the verbal inspiration of the 66 books of the Bible in its original writings and that it is without error and is the sole authority in all matters of faith and practice. II Tim. 3:16-17
--We believe there is only one true God, existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-eternal and co-equal from all eternity, each with distinct personalities but of one nature. Matt. 28:19
--We believe that Adam was created without sin but fell by disobedience and thus the whole race fell and is by nature spiritually dead and lost. Gen. 3:6-24; Rom. 5:12
--We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, co-existent with the Father and the Holy Spirit, and that He came to the world, born of a virgin, shed His blood on Calvary as a vicarious substitute for all sin, that He was buried and rose again bodily an ascended to the right hand of the Father. Matt. 18:11; John 3:16
--We believe in the person and work of the Holy Spirit which includes conviction of sin, regeneration of sinners, and indwelling believers. John 16:7-14
--We believe that a soul is saved when Christ is accepted as personal Savior and Lord and the Holy Spirit imparts eternal life. I Cor. 15:1-4
--We believe that it is the plan of God for each believer to walk after the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Gal. 5:16
--We believe in the perseverance of the saints. John 8:31; Phil. 1:6
--We believe in the immersion of the believer in water to signify His death, burial and resurrection and the believer's identification with Him. The Lord's Supper constitutes the other of the only two ordinances of the church. Matt. 3:16-17; Rom. 6:4-9; I Cor. 11:23-26
--We believe that a New Testament church is a local group of baptized believers united for His purposes and the knowledge and spread of the Word including world-wide missions. We believe that it is completely self-determining and responsible only to Christ, the head of the church. We believe it to be completely independent with no other person, group, or body having any authority, right of intervention, or control in any form whatsoever over or within a local church. I Cor. 1:1-13
--We believe in the premillennial second coming of the Lord, in the bodily resurrection of the righteous dead at His coming, and in the endless heaven for all the redeemed and endless punishment for the lost. I Thess. 4:13-19
--We believe that all acceptable versions of scripture must be in accordance with the above Articles of Faith. They must all be true to the original languages in which they were written. Then King James Version is the desirable preaching and teaching text. II Tim. 3:16-17; II Pet. 1:20-21
--We believe that collaboration or participation with all forms of modernism (any movement that does not fully confirm to God's Word-the Bible), whether in the National Council of Churches or otherwise is wrong, and demands separation on our part. Ezek. 13:1-6; Eph. 4:14; II Pet. 2:1-2
--We believe that God has established marriage as a lifelong, exclusive relationship between one man and one woman and that all intimate sexual activity outside of the marriage relationship, whether heterosexual, homosexual, or otherwise, is immoral and therefore sin. Gen. 2:24-25; Matt. 19:4-6, 9; Mark 10:6-9; Eph. 5:21-33; Ex. 20:14, 17, 22:19; Lev. 18:22-23, 20:13, 15-16; Rom. 1:18-32; I Cor. 6:9-10, 15-20; Gal. 5:19-21; Eph. 5:3-5; I Tim. 1:8-11; Jude 1:7
--We believe that God created the human race male and female and that all conduct with the intent to adopt a gender other than one's birth gender is immoral and therefore sin. Gen. 1:27; Deut. 22:5

Meet Pastor James Rogers
Pastor James Rogers is a Rhea County local who spent most of his life in this community. Before serving as Pastor for EFBC, Pastor James trained for service at Miracle Mountain Ranch Mission of Spring Creek, PA in the Camp Apprenticeship Ministry Program from 2006-2008 in the ministry program department. He went on to receive his double major Bachelor Degree in Bible and Theology and Interdisciplinary Ministry from Appalachian Bible College in Beckley, WV. He and his wife of 13 years, Amy Sue Rogers, returned to Rhea County in 2011 where he served at Christian Fellowship Church of Grandview, TN as Bible/Sunday School teacher. James and Amy have five children: Grace, Jimmy, Hannah, Jedidiah, and Theodore. Pastor James and Amy have been serving our church family since March of 2015. Additionally, Pastor James completed his Master Degree in Exceptional Learning from UTC and also serves in our community as a Special Education Teacher and Bus Driver at Rhea County High School. Pastor James is passionate about the thorough, expository, and exegetical teaching of the Word of God while encouraging consistent application of the Word in daily walks of worship to the Most High God!
